Thoughts before we go

There are so many parables and stories in the New Testament in which Christ beckons us to “Go out into the world sharing the life changing power of Jesus.” At Risen Savior Lutheran Church in Franklin, Wisconsin we challenge ourselves at the end of each service with these words.

For Steve and I, this becomes something we keep in our hearts and minds at all times when we are in Kenya to do mission work. This trip will be special because we will get to see how our school is doing and how God leads us to help in the future. It’s not always easy knowing God’s will but He has a way of letting us know. These children are the innocent of God’s creation and they constantly face famine, poverty and the war on their own flesh as the devil tries to defeat them. But in the face of darkness, we can carry His light to places that have none, while speaking His words of forgiveness. When you look at their faces you can’t help but be touched in so many ways. Through this blog I hope to bring you all a bit closer to understanding what it is like to face this pestilence while knowing we can and do make a difference for them.

Walk with us and leave your messages here so you can follow where we go……

    • As we are Chris. We really want to work on using the things we have already done, using them as a foundation to try and do more to God’s glory. Whatever that may be, I’m sure it will be good in His eyes.

  1. Hope you both have a safe and fulfilling journey. To be able to spread the work of the Lord and be a positive light in this world is an absolutely amazing feat!!

  2. Thank you Gene. Our entire family is so lucky to have had the relationship we all have with God. Seeing the faces of the children always brings me back to why I am here in the first place. I was TOLD to be here. I know not everyone feels passionate in the same way as I do but we all are our brothers caretakers and we need to remember and act in His stead while we are here. Blessings to your family Gene. Say hi to Holly for me and I’d love to hear from her perspective as well.

  3. And we are thrilled to have the opportunity. Every trip is different and they all have a different feel to them. We’ll have a better idea about things on Saturday as we start our home and community visits.
