Pastor's Prayer Partners - Prayer Team - Pray 10 Initiative

Introduction

RSLC's Prayer Ministry, originally founded in 1998, has evolved into three individual entities that fulfill the specific prayer needs of our church. "Prayer Team Ministry" is defined as personal prayer for individuals, done by teams of prayers. It may be prayer for a specific need such as healing or it may be a prayer of blessing.

Prayer ministers are not seeking to give advice or solve problems, but are used to put people in touch with the Father.

Why do we, as a congregation, need a Prayer Ministry?
It provides an occasion for people to make a new commitment. Prayer personalizes God's love for his people. It also confirms the preached Word and helps people to apply it immediately, before the Devil gives them something else to think about. The Ministry gives a clear and visible opportunity for people to repent and believe. "Pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the saints." - Ephesians 6:18

Who is in need of the Prayer Ministry?
Jesus, quoting from Isaiah, said, "The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he has ... sent me to proclaim release to the captives and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty those who are oppressed ... " (Luke 4:18) That ministry of bringing release continues through Christ's body. Prayer ministry is one means God uses to bring His children healing in their bodies and their spirits.

It is a means of revelation, of blessing, and of deliverance. It can help people turn a corner, overcome sin, or come out of a depression. All of God's children can use such a ministry. The format of praying with others models an important truth - interdependence. We can not do it alone; we need one another.

Pray 10
The Pray 10 initiative is a new program launched in early spring, 2006. It is designed to cover every member of our congregation in Prayer! Our congregation is divided into 10 family groups., to which each group is assigned an Intercessor. Intercessors have been identified throughout the congregation and asked to serve. Mailings have gone out to those families from their Intercessor so they know whom to contact for spontaneous prayer needs (If you do not know who to contact for prayer, please use the form below).

The prayer need could be for some bourdon or hardship, illness, or sin in their life they can share with the Intercessor to be prayed for. If no specific prayer needs currently touch your life, be assured you and your family are being prayed for to bring blessings, peace, or however the Lord may lead you.

The principle of intercession is that Christians bear one another's burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ (Galations 6:2). Intercessory prayer is an extension of the ministry of Jesus through His body, the church (Risen Savior) whereby we mediate between God and humanity for the purpose of reconciling the world to Him.
